Our Inspiration
We originally designed the BioBlast logo to recapture the lost art of hand drawn letters that used to be the standard of all graphic design. Recently, we expanded our celebration of vintage signage by adding a stencil cutting plotter to our workshop. The handmade look and feel of classic media blasted signs is so distinct that no two signs are ever the same.
We now have the ability to generate and cut sheets of blast resistant materials that can be used to add letters, numbers and graphic images to our projects. By masking off a portion of surface before blasting we are able to blast raised and recessed areas to create three dimensional textures and visual effects on a variety of surfaces.
Our goal is to make one of a kind heirloom signs that embrace the unique natural properties of surfaces and materials that last a lifetime...Stay tuned as we expand this area of our portfolio or call us to talk about developing a stencil for your project.
The Effects
We use a variety of specialized media to create effects on surfaces that range from wood and concrete to metal, stone and glass. Our handblasted signs make aesthetics a driving factor in our designs because each of these surfaces reacts differently with each media choice. Combining these tools with the right raw materials for the job is exciting and is producing exciting results. The possibilities are endless!
On Surfaces
Choosing the correct combination of tools for surface preparation is central in every project BioBlast takes on. Since we already have all of the blast gear, we have recently started adding custom stencils to a variety of surfaces to create defined patterns and amplified textures. We are looking forward to generating some great graphics and going beyond blasting once again...
