VISION

Our careful assessment of surface properties combined with the right abrasive media has created outstanding results for artist, sculptors, interior designers, landscape architects & home builders who have contracted us to prep their projects. By choosing from a variety of media, we can restore surfaces, remove coatings and create unique texture profiles tailored to specific aesthetic and practical needs. There are no do overs with work of this nature and BioBlast is up to the challenge of working with artists to assist with their vision.

solutions

Traditional sandblasting generates more heat than alternative media and when it impacts surfaces and can easily warp and destroy fine art. Bio Blast relies on alternative abrasive media and cutting edge blasting equipment to control surface temperature and get the results you need.

Surfaces

The creative possibilities of BioBlast go well beyond restoration and surface prep. We can also create unique profiles on materials such as wood, metal, stone & concrete, just to mention a few. These custom textures can reveal inherent features to amplify the character of the material, create dimensional textures or unify the substrate to blend in with other materials and receive a consistent patina.

finishes

Because blasting is media based, we work with streams of particles that go where other tools cannot. As a result, we are able to completely restore surfaces and prepare them for new coatings or a patina. By unifying the substrate, coatings and patinas can contact the metal consistently. Because all the wild card factors have been eliminated, coatings and patinas can work in a uniform manner.

PROFILES

"He took up wood carving at the age of 79. when his knees became too painful to climb. He had guided thousands of people up Mount Ranier, led expeditions to Mt. Everest, Kangachenjunga, and climbed high on K2, of course he carved a mountain climber."

-LouWhittaker.com

We can create a variety of effects on surfaces as seen on the base of this wood sculpture carved by the infamous mountain guide, Lou Whittaker. After covering the figure with a protective masking, we blasted the base to raise the harder winter growth rings of the grain to add dimension to the rocks. Then an edition of 200 bronze reproductions of this sculpture were cast. It was an honor to be trusted with the blasting of Lou's hand carved sculpture.
